3 Major Changes to the Electrical Code this year
There were 3 Major Changes to the NEC electrical code in 2020. The National Electrical Code sets the minimum standard for safe electrical design, installation, and inspection to keep people and property protected from electrical hazards. 1. Surge Protection is Required
New and replaced service equipment are now required to be protected by surge protection devices.
2. NEW Ground Fault Circuit Requirements
GFCI protection is now required in all 125-volt through 250-volt receptacles in 11 locations of a dwelling
3. Outdoor Emergency Disconnects
Outdoor emergency disconnects are now required for new construction, home undergoing renovation, and homes having their service replaced.
